Review of The Earthsea Trilogy by Ursula Le Guin

Pros: Creative epics, interesting focus on the power of words

Cons: A bit predictable

Buy? Yes, I strongly recommend it.

I just finished reading the trio of books in Ursula Le Guin's "Earthsea Trilogy," a series of books about an age of magic and dragons and a wizard named Ged. These books are kind of in the same vein as the Tolkien books, but with some creative takes on the role of magic and its power. I was especially drawn to the power of language in the books where everything has a name and a "true" name, and knowledge of names holds power over the object or person. It's cleverly told, and the extremely detailed descriptions of the people, land, and relations in Earthsea draw you into the world in a wonderful way.

I paid $24 for all 3
